Sightings

Mister Smith is a popular guy, and not just at mothers' group.

Leading the charge for housedads is about more than looking after the kids while their mum kicks some more corporate goals. He had a busy social schedule prior to having kids, and Mister Smith Housedad is going all out to maintain as much of that as possible.

Some of Mister Smith's followers, along with certain gossip columnists, have written in reporting rumours and suspected sightings of the man "at large". Here are some of them. Keep an eye out on this site, as there's sure to be many more. And keep an eye out around town. You never know where you'll see him next.

Starring in Ocean's 13?

An urban sophisticate writes:

"I've got a friend who reckons Mister Smith is going to be cast as the 13th player in the forthcoming Ocean's 13 (the sequel to Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12). The character calls for a laid back guy, oozing style and life balance. With a bit of cheekiness, of course. I could see him doing it – is it true?”

Brad, Senior Gofer for Mister Smith, responds:

Whilst he's good mates with George and Brad (interesting note: Ms Smith dated Mr Clooney for a while) and actually knocked back Andy Garcia's role in the original, he won't be doing it. He would have done it had they been filming in Melbourne, but going to LA for that length of time was not feasible. The oldest is in school, the twins are starting kinder and Ms Smith can't take time off, as she is advising on a high profile takeover.

Nonetheless, he's working on a script with Bud Tingwell and Rove McManus about a high powered corporate type who takes time out to raise the kids and is recruited by a spy network to infiltrate rogue mothers groups. Keep an eye out for it – it should be in cinemas some time next year.

Running for Parliament?

L. Oakes (Canberra) writes:

"Is it true Mister Smith has been approached by the PM to get a safe seat and immediate cabinet posting? I heard Little Johnny had him lined up for Minister for Womens Affairs."

Chambo, Senior Lackey for Mister Smith, responds:

No. Whilst he's been courted by both parties, and occasionally gets Ms Smith to put on the Doc Martins and role play Natasha Stot Despoja, he's not going into politics. It'd be a step down in sophistication and intelligence from looking after the kids.

Attending a premiere?

M. Pomeranz (Sydney) writes:

"I thought I saw Mister Smith at the premiere of the latest Will Smith movie in Melbourne the other night. He seemed quite relaxed, and effortlessly stylish. I overheard him say he'd had a great day with the kids, and that they'd knocked up a quick quiche for the wife before he'd ducked out. I think that's him in the photo.

Chambo, Senior Lackey for Mister Smith, responds:

It certainly sounds like him* but he was actually at home that night. He and Ms Smith were having a cheeky Bordeaux and babysitting the McGuire kids while Eddie and Carla went to the premiere. It's Eddie and Carla's turn to repay the favour when the Smiths head up to Sydney for the Mardi Gras.

[* except the quiche. I mean, seriously. ]
